The Mission

AquaPark is South Africa’s first Olympic-standard 50m aquatic facility, under construction in Pietermaritzburg. More than a pool, it is designed as a catalyst for talent development, social transformation, and community regeneration. Temple partnered with the project to build clarity, momentum, and a brand that could inspire belief and attract investment.

The Challenge

Despite its potential, the project faced several challenges:

  • Confusion around brand identity and vision

  • Low public awareness and fragmented stakeholders

  • Limited digital presence and almost no storytelling

  • Fundraising still required for completion of Phase One

  • Rumours and uncertainty surrounding the project

Our Strategy

Temple stepped in to deliver a unifying brand, a clear digital roadmap, and a fundraising story that resonated. We developed AquaPark’s new identity, repositioning the project with a bold name and tagline — Water. Talent. Transformation. This became the foundation for a 12-month roadmap, designed to align stakeholders, engage the community, attract sponsors, and build national profile ahead of launch.

New Identity

Transitioned SAAP into AquaPark with a fresh brand system and inspiring tagline.

Designed a 12-month strategy for awareness, fundraising, and engagement.

Built a professional website and content calendar to share updates, athlete stories, and fundraising milestones.

Developed a sponsor pack and fundraising message (“R10 heats one litre of water”) to give funders tangible impact.

Activated events like Inspiration in Motion: The Ripple Effect, aligning AquaPark with Pietermaritzburg’s regeneration story.

The Results

In under a year, AquaPark shifted from uncertainty to unstoppable momentum. A new name and identity united stakeholders under one vision. A complete digital ecosystem was launched, with the website live, social channels growing, and content running consistently.
